Good God Google

I was dying when I realized this.

My last  5 google searches, as they appear, top to bottom, are:

Comcast bill pay    (ok)
Why is dating to hard these days (well... It is!)
Pilates routine email     (Important to look good...)
Full abdomen pants    (um....)
Single after 40   (maybe because I need full abdomen pants???)

(fyi... The pants was an attempt to find a good pattern alternation technique.  Not that I’m trying to just ify it.)

New Mex style

Figuring out what the hell to wear in New Mex is tricky.  It's muddy and goes from bloody cold to wet to hot and back in the time it's taken you to muck the chickens. Having a wardrobe of twenty hand-sewn cocktail dresses, and Prada shoes your ex bought you doesn't go so far here.  But fraying cords and oversized flannel... not so sexy either.  The second pic from the bottom is totally stolen from The Snail and the Cyclops.. but is 100% my inspiration for how I'd like to look.  The colors are fantastic, and I love her joyful laugh and clove cigarette...

Sea of Shoes

I never used to understand the vitriol that Sea of Shoes inspires in certain parts of the blog world, but now I'm starting to get it.  I really, really hope this young girl is getting a sound education, and being exposed to bigger ideas than over-consumption of unnecessary objects, and the pursuit of image and external beauty.

Sigh.

Dressing up, creating a look, exploring the ways in which you can present a visual and aesthetic story to the world - is FUN! And we all do it, but there has to be a balance between that and the more-meaningful realities of life. There is something insanely depressing about the thousands and thousands of dollars of shoes that are purchased or gifted so casually. I hope she has a rich and deep inner life that is not documented in the blog.
